Harry Field, W6LKC

1914 – 1999

1914 – 1999

Born in Fallbrook, Harry was Fallbrooks first amateur radio operator, he took his test in 1933 and received his license in 1934. He was proud to say that he never missed a Field Day and he was always noted for the fine Field Day antennas he would install. He was one of the first members of the Palomar Radio Club and he was right there when the Fallbrook Amateur Radio Club was established. The success of both clubs was in no small part due to his and his families enthusiastic support. When the novice license established voice privileges on the ten meter band Harry encouraged the new Hams by running a radio round table each weekday night, a schedule he faithfully kept until shortly before his death. He was the Elmer to hundreds of todays hams. A great amateur, citizen and friend to all.

Mable Field, W6YZV

1919 – 2007

Mable B. Field W6YZV, on July 14, 2007 became a Silent Key. She passed very peacefully in her sleep. There will only be family services and the family wishes you remember her as she was in earlier days. She was first licensed in 1947 continuously for 60 + years. She was the first YL to belong to the Palomar Radio Club, and published the news letter, on a memograph machine, and she named the news letter “The Scope”. She ran many nets for YLRL in the 50s and 60s and attended many Field Days, one of which was on Mt Solodad in 1948 and made the paper with me on her knee at the age of 1. She was married to Harry W6LKC for 61 + years and they both were charter members of The Fallbrook Amateur Radio Club and raised 4 children in her spare time.
